A Colourful Riverford Cottage Wedding in Devon: Capturing a Day Full of Fun, Colour, and Love
As a Devon wedding photographer, I’ve had the pleasure of capturing some truly magical moments over the years, but Charlie and David’s wedding at Riverford Cottage was one for the books. This day was filled with so much colour, joy, and creativity, making it a dream to photograph from start to finish. If you’re looking for inspiration for a fun, vibrant wedding, this colourful celebration is exactly what you need.
An Outdoor Ceremony in the Heart of Devon
Riverford Cottage, with its sweeping gardens and idyllic countryside setting, provided the perfect backdrop for the outdoor ceremony. The moment Charlie and David stood in the kitchen garden to exchange their vows, I couldn’t help but marvel at the natural beauty surrounding them. The vibrant displays of flowers and veg in the garden set the tone for the whole day, and you could immediately sense that this wedding was going to be something special.
Charlie, wearing a jumpsuit that radiated bold, beautiful floral colours, and David in his equally striking floral suit, looked absolutely stunning as they said their vows. The colours in their outfits popped against the greenery, creating a striking contrast that was just a joy to photograph. There was a sense of excitement in the air, and it was clear that this was going to be a wedding that broke all the traditional rules.
A Colourful Wedding Like No Other
As the wedding photographer, my job was made so much easier by the vibrant colours that filled every corner of the venue. Charlie and David embraced a colourful theme throughout the day, which added an incredible amount of energy to the celebrations. Every detail was a burst of colour, making the entire day feel alive and playful.
The couple’s outfits were a perfect reflection of their personalities – fun, carefree, and unapologetically colourful. As a photographer, this level of thoughtfulness in their choices made for such dynamic, captivating images. It was impossible not to be drawn in by the bright, cheerful energy of the day… even when the rain clouds drew in as the day came to an end!
Interactive Fun: Paint by Numbers and Outdoor Games
One of the most creative touches of the day was the paint by numbers guest book by Make your Mark Events. Instead of having guests sign a traditional book, they were invited to add their own personal touch to a large canvas sectioned off like a paint by numbers. This interactive and artistic idea not only engaged the guests, but it also became a beautiful keepsake that Charlie and David will treasure forever. As a photographer, I loved capturing the moments of people working together, laughing, and contributing their unique strokes to the canvas.
Then, there were the outdoor games – a perfect way to keep the atmosphere lighthearted and full of fun. a coconut shire, welly wanging and plenty of other games kept guests entertained throughout the afternoon, and the candid moments I captured of everyone laughing and playing were some of my favourite shots of the day. Riverford Cottage’s beautiful garden space made it the perfect setting for these outdoor activities, giving the wedding an effortlessly relaxed vibe.
Incredible Food and a Pizza Cake!
A Riverford Cottage wedding is never complete without incredible food, and Charlie and David’s big day was no exception. Known for its delicious, locally-sourced dishes, the food at Riverford was as fresh and vibrant as the rest of the wedding. The couple treated their guests to a sumptuous feast, with every dish bursting with flavour and creativity.
But the most unexpected and memorable food moment had to be the couple’s decision to cut a pizza instead of a traditional wedding cake. It was a unique touch that reflected their playful nature and their desire to do things differently. As I captured the moment they sliced into the giant pizza, surrounded by their smiling guests, it was clear that this wedding was full of surprises – and I’m sure the pizza cutting will go down in history!
A Devon Wedding Photographer’s Dream
As a photographer, capturing Charlie and David’s wedding was an absolute dream. From the stunning outdoor ceremony to the candid moments of joy throughout the day, I was able to capture a wide range of emotions and interactions. The natural beauty of Riverford Cottage provided the perfect backdrop, while the couple’s colourful, playful spirit made every photograph vibrant and lively.
As the day came to a close, I found myself reflecting on the sheer joy of being able to document such a memorable event. The combination of colour, creativity, and love created an atmosphere that was nothing short of magical. (And the BEST wedding food I have EVER eaten!) Charlie and David’s wedding wasn’t just about the details – it was about the energy, the love, and the sense of togetherness that everyone felt.
